#10 Run a Marathon

I have always wanted to be a runner. When I see others running I think to myself,"What a good hobby and escape from the world. I wish I was a runner." After talking to my friend Camille I have decided to attempt to run the St. George Marathon this upcoming October 1st. 26.2 miles is a long way to run. Especially since the longest I have run to date is a 5k. But I just printed off my beginners training schedule from here and I plan on starting my 6 month regimen tomorrow. I am scared to do this. I really, really want to succeed but I am afraid that I will give up. I am an excellent starter but a horrible finisher when it comes to goals. Maybe, just maybe this will help me overcome this nasty shortcoming I have and help me gain a passion for running. So here's to training and ultimately a 26.2 run from yours truly. I just have to remind myself that the joy is in the journey and that the older I get the harder it will be to run that far.

#8 Read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy

So since 2002 when I first saw the trailer for Lord of the Rings I have had a great desire to read the books. I have a rule that governs my entertainment and here it is: If I have a desire to read a book and said book has been made into a movie I must first read the book before watching the movie. So needless to say I have never watched Elijah Wood as Frodo or Orlando Bloom as Legolas. That is until last night. You can only imagine the reactions I have received over the past several years when I mention I have never seen the movies. Well I am done with those reactions. This Christmas I asked for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy book set. My sister-in-law Kristie came through. Last week I finished the first book. I really liked it. JRR Tolkien is an amazing author with a very vivid imagination. I really enjoyed my journey through Middle Earth. So of course my knee jerk reaction to finishing the book was to watch the first movie. After 3 hours I was again entertained although somewhat disappointed at the missing content of the movie. But overall a great flick. The visual graphics were amazing. I am definitely glad I read the book first since the book was much better than the movie. So 1/3 done with #8.So if there are any of you out there who have not seen the movies I would recommend the books first.
